Why Did I Pick Thailand As My Indian Wedding Destination?

Once all the excitement and surrealism settled down from the engagement, we knew their was a big job ahead. Planning the wedding!

One of my toxic traits is that when I get into something, I become obsessed! And planning a wedding was definitely something I was obsessed about. But how could I not be? This was a moment I have been dreaming about since I was a little girl, one moment in our life filled with pure happiness – a celebration of love. It is so much more than just a couple getting married. It is a reunion of family and friends, an excuse for parties and celebrations and creating wonderful memories with each other. I knew that this was something that, if planned well, would be epic. And I was thriving for epic!

So planning a wedding. First Question of course is, Where?

I knew I wanted to get married abroad. All the guests in holiday mode, hot exotic weather, a ceremony on the beach… This was perfect. To fulfil my little girl dreams, getting married on a beach was a definite.

The world was our oyster! We looked at numerous countries but there always seemed to be catches regards to expense, experience, value for money, quality of food suitable for our guests, logistics and communication with vendors. From all corners of the world, Thailand was easily our top choice.

So why Thailand?

  1. It is Known for Indian Luxury Weddings. It has been a choice of location for many Indians including those from India and Western countries for years. There is also a large Indian community based in Thailand, with majority of them based in Bangkok.
  2. Experienced vendors and venues. From wedding planners to videographers to cocktail mixers. Thailand has the best of the best. The level of service they provide is unmatched and they are extremely professional.
  3. Insane innovative food. All of our guests loved our food at the wedding. A 4 day wedding (vegetarian only!) was always going to be a challenge. They managed to pull it off easily . Even the meat eaters didn’t miss the meat! Without any issues provided a whole range of delicious cuisines – from Mexican to Indian to American to Japanese to Lebanese to Thai, some evenings we even had around 14 live stations!
  4. Good value for money. Thailand consistently goes above and beyond in every aspect, surpassing our expectations. They follow through on their promises and, in my experience, always deliver as expected, never falling short.
  5. Stunning views and hotels. Thailand offers a wealth of captivating locations – from the lush jungles and mountains to the stunning coastlines, islands, and vibrant cities. With so much to explore, wedding guests are sure to have an unforgettable holiday here. Thailand offers a wide range of resorts, from intimate, smaller venues perfect for cozy weddings to larger, more expansive properties designed for grand destination celebrations. These resorts are highly experienced in hosting weddings of all sizes.
  6. Tropical country with warm temperatures With a climate that’s less prone to rain outside of the monsoon season compared to many other countries, Thailand offers ideal weather for sundowners, pool parties, beach parties, and stunning sunset weddings.
  7. Thai people are wonderful. Their warmth and positive energy are felt everywhere. This is reflected in the exceptional customer service provided by hotel staff and at weddings — they truly go above and beyond to take care of every detail.

Overall, Thailand has now truly captured a special place in my heart, and I find myself yearning to return often!
